The SHRM Foundation is a values-based charity organization whose mission is to champion workforce and workplace transformation by providing research-based HR solutions for challenging inclusion issues facing current and potential employees, scholarships to educate and develop HR professionals to make change happen and opportunities for HR professionals to make a difference in their local communities.
The SHRM Foundation funds research, publications, and education to advance the HR profession and enhance the effectiveness of HR professionals. The SHRM Foundation advances global human capital knowledge and practice by providing thought leadership and educational support and by sponsoring, funding and driving the adoption of cutting-edge, actionable, evidence-based research.
This past year the SHRM Foundation has helped support the HR profession by funding:
In the Starfish Story, a man tells a young boy that he can’t possibly make a difference by throwing a single starfish back into the sea. As hundreds lay along the oceanside, the boy picks up a starfish, throws it into the ocean and tells the man “I made a difference to that one.” This year we recognize the starfish as a symbol throughout the conference that HR makes a difference every day. What you do in HR makes a difference and it is up to you to decide what kind of difference you are going to make.
